It’s Not Easy Being Green

To quote Kermit, “It’s not easy being green”, and that’s especially true in today’s office environment.

To be committed to sustainability requires a commitment and stewardship from upper management that goes way beyond using recycled paper!

Ways to help the planet from your office run the gamut from such basic things as reusable water bottles and coffee cups, recycling bins, and LED lighting to more elaborate devices, such as solar panels and rooftop water sourcing.

Yet between those two chasms lie a multitude of ways for one’s work environment to be renewable, such as eco-friendly ink and toner, refillable pens, dry erase boards vs paper, and cloth napkins instead of disposable ones.

Other simple solutions include being plant friendly, purchasing organic or locally sourced snacks, recycling unusable technology, biodegradable cleaning products and using sunlight vs artificial whenever possible.

Even peripheral activities outside the office can be of value. Try bicycling, ride sharing, public transportation and working from home.

By incorporating these practices, offices and their business can help reduce environmental impact, and also create a healthier and more responsible workplace.
