It was certainly a karmic activity when Casper had the forethought to reach out to GOL for their liquidation project!
With a short timeline to completion, and one of NYC’s most arduous buildings to work in, it was nothing short of a miracle that the project was so seamless.
With over $12,000 in resale credit, 3 truckload of FFE and benching stations/ matching pedestals donated to Graham Windham, a leading innovator for providing support for children and families, in the NYC area, and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING being placed in a landfill, I would humbly say it was GOL’s finest hour.
As usual we left the space spotless, with nary a paper clip to be found! And a big thanks to the Casper team for being so generous in giving mattresses to many of the crew members.
As any successful person will attest, sometimes being in the right place at the right time is all that matters. Or as Thomas Jefferson once said, “I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.” That is the essence of our short story about lightning striking twice.
One day, I received a call from Graham Windham, a leading innovator in providing support for children and families in the NYC area, inquiring if we had any furniture we could donate to help furnish a new space they were outfitting. We had a project coming up in the following days, and to my great surprise, the amenities were a perfect fit. A win-win in anyone’s book!
Months go by, and again Graham Windham asks if we have furniture for another location. As luck would have it, we had an upcoming project that fit perfectly, and within 5 days the new space was furnished.
If good things come in 3’s, I expect to hear from them again!!
When a major NYS organization needed to clear out its 50K square foot space in the Penn Plaza district, it wisely chose GOL over 5 other service offerings.
With over 150 work stations, 65 offices, numerous huddle and conference rooms and a less than friendly path of egress, this represented one of our more challenging efforts.
After we removed all the seating, desks and file cabinets and donated them to Habitat for Humanity, we had the Herculean task of carrying down the stairs close to 1000 panels. Did we mention that the building had redone the freight a few years back and the station walls no longer fit in the elevator??!!!!
Luckily since we are a division of Liberty Moving and Storage, we had the proper expertise to safely complete the assignment.
When this international consulting firm in downtown Boston needed to have 20,000 SF of office furniture environmentally liquidated, they didn’t need a team of 10 partners to know that GOL was the best choice!
Through our resale network we found a buyer for almost 75% of the inventory, which included 6 conference rooms, 45 executive offices, 20 secretarial stations, and over 100 Steelcase Leap chairs. The remaining items including all the technology, desk lamps and such were all donated to local charities and schools which allowed us to provide the client a credit of almost $6,000 for their liquidation.
The client was so pleased with our service that we are teeing up for their upcoming projects in Chicago, and Detroit.
When you are a world class sports organization with over 550 employees in a 100K SF building that has been your national headquarters for 3 decades, you can be certain there is a treasure trove of items that can be repurposed for others to enjoy for many years to come.
Fortunately, the USTA felt the same. As they prepared to move into a smaller size new office, the USTA found there were many office items that were no longer needed. As part of the USTA’s “Green” initiative, it was GOL’s good fortune to be able to connect them to Habitat For Humanity. Chairs, sofas, tables, file cabinets, monitor arms, bookcases all were donated, filling up almost 10 truckloads. According to Courtney Collins, the Director of Operations at Habitat, the items that “flew” out the door the quickest were the almost 200 framed photos of past tennis stars in action!
As the old axiom goes “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. Proving once again that with a little creativity and compassion we can move the planet forward to a more circular economy because as always “When Nature Wins, We All Win!”
When Bessemer Trust was tasked with liquidating their almost 300K SF space at Rockefeller Center in the most environmentally friendly fashion attainable, the only choice was to bring in GOL!
Our team dispatched the project in less than 4 weeks, while assuring that not one item was sent to a landfill or tipping station. The approximate 400 tons of furnishings were allocated in the following manner.
Bessemer was so pleased with our performance that they subsequently awarded us a national project where we recycle all their old technology from their 20 offices scattered throughout the US.
When this growing international tech firm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area wanted to expand they were adamant that their prior office furniture not end up in the Trinity! With over 300 workstations and almost 100 office settings this was one tall order and to make it more challenging we had only a 24-hour span to complete the entire removal.
Besides our normal donations to the Habitat for Humanity, as well as other local charities we tried something new!!!! We had a social media campaign that targeted individuals to come to the firms’ parking lot and our team helped them load chairs and other items into their personal vehicles. Over 50 people took home chairs, cabinets, desks and office supplies as part of our “green” liquidation.
When noom called and inquired about donating over 400 sit – stand desks, and 200 pedestal files, we accepted the assignment sight unseen.
Then came the task of finding a home for these goods. Through some good old fashioned hard work, and a little luck, we were able to repurpose all the tables to the Huntington Union Free School District on Long Island as they were in need of furnishing new computer and learning labs.
The remaining pedestals went off to our friends at Habitat for Humanity to resell and use the proceeds in their critical mission of helping build homes for those in need all across the Globe.
